The Business Of Divine Arrangement

Attending wedding ceremonies as a child afforded me three lifetime opportunities. Firstly, the certainty of possibly having a new outfit or party dress, secondly was the special rice with party flavour called ‘jollof ’ and lastly, what I considered as the most important item on the agenda at the reception- toast of the bride and groom, when we get to hear how the two met before clicking the wine glass to a happy life ever after.

The latter gave me reasons to wonder always at how God works out His plans in the life of His children. One that remained fresh with me till date was a lady in her 30’s who took her car to the mechanic workshop and a young man in his late 30s who was at the same workshop to pick up his car. As the man’s car was being washed, he asked the lady for her permission to read a soft sell magazine in her car and both began to discuss the headlines and other stories. They exchanged phone numbers and subsequent events led to their marriage. The groom’s best man who gave the toast was so emphatic when he said “My people, when God wants to make something happen, He is so good at arranging it.” This I heard since 1978 and has remained with me till date. Sadly, in today’s society weddings, this item on the reception agenda no longer exist for several unknown reasons. People nowadays leave wedding parties missing out on the inspiring stories of how the couple met but with hearts fully impressed and moved with how much money was spent and how classy they think it was. (Not minding if the marriage will not survive beyond the first year).

Having said this however, there are so many everyday life events that still speak of God‘s power and ability to arrange things and make things happen. The world says it is co-incidence, we say it is God-incidence.

Making divine arrangement happen does not imply that some heavenly being or angel with wings fall from heaven for earthly transactions, No.

What God does is use everything and anything and everywhere to achieve His plans in our lives. This is what the scripture meant in Romans 8:28, “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”

When as single ladies, mature in age with our biological clock ticking so very fast, we join in the wagon of desperately orchestrating or scheming for a match-making to happen. We throw all caution aside and dignity and self-respect goes on vacation. We lose patience with the God who seems to be so slow in actualising His promised plans and may need our help to put things together. God alone knows and understands our present and future. He has been there before our beginning began. How can He run short of ideas to make all things work together for our good.

Our inability to see how events will lay out in the end is not a reason for us to charge God with slackness. Sometimes in 2002, I attended a wedding ceremony where the young man who was to propose the toast was told at the last minute to not say how the couple met. I understood later that it was an arranged marriage, they would not want to make public how it happened. Ah! Glorious God, I imagined if this was God’s arrangement, if even He had used people and places, it would still be worthy of mention to His praise. However, I have also known so many God arranged weddings that skipped this item on the agenda for some personal reasons. If it is God’s idea, it definitely will be glorious and will carry no shame.

Are you expecting God to arrange your marriage? Or trusting God to make your divine moment to happen? Here are some things to note and work on:

Always accept the truth that our God has answers to everything that pertains to us His children.

Never hesitate to ask for His wisdom to discern correctly when confused or in doubt. You can just simply ask for His help. Wisdom is the principal thing, but with it get understanding.

Faith in our Lord Jesus will help you to be guided aright. God’s divine direction in your decision will become clearer as you pray and will become distinct as you wait.

Begin to do your part. Get in motion.Heed every prompting of the Holy Spirit of God within you.

That split second move can become a life changing step forward to the fulfilment of your destiny. Make sure to be doing all that you need to do and watch God meet you where you are at.

Even when the opportunity has presented itself and the arrangement is so divine and clear, ensure to check your every decision against God’s word. God will never do anything that will negate His Word or go contrary to His Word or character.

I look forward to hearing of your testimony. Expect a miracle. Allow God to arrange it.
