MOMENTS THAT WILL MATTER

Dear Bloomer,

Remember that popular scripture in Ecclesiastes 3? The one about times and seasons?

There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot, a time to kill and a time to heal…

There’s so much to draw from it, but the most obvious lesson is the fact that there are and will be several moments and seasons in every life.

Fruits will spring up all over the trees today and be gone in a few weeks.

People will be here today and gone tomorrow,

Beauty queens will reign all over the media one day and be forgotten soon,

The things that we so crave for yesterday may become not so important tomorrow.

Nothing then, will stay forever the same. I have to say, you, my dear friend will not remain young and strong, beautiful and handsome for a lifetime.

I guess that is supposed to be scary news, then again, it shouldn’t be. You will soon come to realize that there are many more important things ahead of you in every phase of life that you pass through. They will be different and at first intimidating, but they will be fresh and fitting for you. Here’s the big BUT though,

What you find in your future will not necessarily be as you dreamed but it will be determined by the choices you make in your present.

14? 15? 16 years old or more? You have already started building the home that is your future regardless of whether you’re doing it deliberately or not.

So how do you know what moments will count for you in the future? Let me advice you on three.

Moments of service:

I know that you have so much to be concerned about now and that the letter ‘I’ is probably the most important one in your alphabets. Know this however, in the very important seasons of your life, one of the moments that will always count for you are those moments when you served and loved other people before yourself.

Maya Angelou once said, “People will forget what you did, they will forget what you said, but they will never forget how you made them feel”.

God Moments:

Many people do not pay attention to or recognize these moments, but I encourage you to actively seek out those moments when God Himself whispers His truth to you. God is always with us, speaking peace, love and hope into our hearts but when we are too distracted, we rarely hear Him. If you will learn to listen and to take note of what you hear in your God moments, it will guide you through the toughest days of your life.

If you will listen and obey, Psalm 32:8 reminds us of God’s promise to you

I will instruct you in the way that you should go. I will counsel you with my eye on you.

You will need God’s truth to guide you through the inconsistencies of life. Never forget what He speaks to you in your God moments. Write them down, and keep them close to your heart.

The YOU moments:

Many times, you will find yourself in situations where you have to make choices. Some of them will be as simple as the choice of what to eat or what to wear and others will be complicated. These are moments that are entirely up to you and it will appear that no one is watching you. I encourage you to make the right decisions even in those moments. The results of the things we do in secret often manifest in the public.

For every ‘now’ moments that you have, deliberately seek to do something for the next man and leave the impression of God in you in the heart of the world.

God bless you.
