Jeans

Jeans? Don’t mind if I do…

Hola style queens, I’m sure some of you are wondering “why are we having another article on jeans”. Never fear, we haven’t lost the plot. We just wanted to remind you how versatile jeans are.

The funny thing is, I never used to be a fan of jeans. I remember someone saying that only skinny girls should wear jeans. Since I was on the heavy side then, I thought that the ship had sailed. I don’t remember when exactly I thought to myself, “I’m a grown woman, and I’m not going to let the fashion police cramp my style”. Whenever it was, I’ve not looked back since then and wanted to share my top 3 tips on how to fall in love with jeans and rock out in a pair that suits you everytime.

Firstly, think of your jeans as an investment and buy the best ones you can afford. Whether they are “wear forever flares” or those skinnies that make your legs look endless or even a pair that are so bling, people have to wear sunglasses to look at you, get the best quality and cut you can afford. Although, I do have to say, that expensive isn’t necessarily always the best. My 3 favourite pairs at the moment are from a High Street chain, with very reasonable price tag. For you pear shaped ladies, think about a flare, because they balance out your hips nicely. For you curvy ladies, avoid a pale colour wash and go for a darker, heavier wash. And for those of you, who like me have a dreaded muffin top, go for a high waisted pair, to suck it all in. For those leggy lovelies, with no issues whatsoever, can I just say that we are deeply envious!

I’ve got a pair of green skinnies, and I dress them up with a fitted shirt and some seriously foxy heels. Feeling a little more casual, match them with a fitted tee shirt and some sparkly flats. Don’t like green? Try some cobalt blue or burgundy, for the more sedate amongst us. Most importantly, just have a bit of fun.

Finally, you could try a little double denim. It’s a look that’s been around for a while. Personally, I was a bit wary, because I didn’t want to look like an escapee from cowboy land, but actually, it can be quite a wearable look. Rather than opt for a denim shirt and jeans combo, how about experimenting with two tone denim jeans? Just remember that if you’re after a slimming look, go for a style that has darker patches on the top half and lighter patches, from the knee down.

I hope I’ve inspired all you shy and retiring types out there to get creative with your jeans. Let me know how you get on.

Until next time, wear it well. Best wishes.
