God is Up to Something

It is a new year and incidentally, a new decade begins. Wow! Thank God for His mercies. This is a time for new hopes and aspirations, a time to dream again. I bet several New Year resolutions have been made. Question is, how many will survive or be adhered to? That’s discourse for another day. Ha! Ha! One thingI’m sure of though is that God is able to keep whatever you commit toHim. Thus, I urge you to dare to believe Him in the real sense of the word, nothing wavering.

Now, to the koko of the moment. You know, during the yuletide holidays, I took time to ponder some things, taking stock of God’s mercies and goodness to me and the magnanimity of His grace in my life thus far. His word tells me that His thoughts and plans for me are for welfare and peace and not for evil, to give me hope in my final outcome. What better offer can we get? However then, why do things not go the way we often expect or envisage? Simple reason that came to my mind was because many of us are too complacent in our dealings with God. When we abandon the safety of complacency for the contentment that can come only by faith,we give up seeking control then God can show Himself strong on our behalf.

Complacency resists change. The only cure for complacency therefore is to press. Pressing into God, inclining your ear, and setting your affections on Him, is the only way to get what your soul really needs, and that is the Truth. When we press,we recommit ourselves to true, Spirit –infused worship. That can’t occur unless God becomes the sum and substance of all that you do. He must be the object and the source of all your desires. You desire to seek Him first and allow Him add to your life such as He would impart unto you. You abandon your old behavior, waiting for things to give you permission to praise Him.

You create a life out of your time spent with Him; you do not create time to spend with Him out of your life! Control must be seized. You know, control is dependent on my ability to hold on to it.

A lot of people say they know God. Fact is, a lot of folks know Him like they know the President. They know where he lives, but they do not really hang out with Him. They know people who know Him, but not many of them have had dinner with Him either. Think about it.Good thing is, unlike the President, you do not have to be important to the world for Him to invite you over. How splendid! Now, what’s stopping you? Open up and receive Him now. He’s standing at the door of your heart and knocking. Don’t keep Him waiting. Ok?

Satan’s goal is to rob you of your destiny, which is to be loved and cherished by the One who made you. Child of God, know that you can have victory, if you want it. The question is how badly do you want it? Here’s where relentless pursuit is needed.

We cannot look at hard times as isolated incidents that happen in a vacuum any more than we can see blessings as occurrences that are meant only for us.

We get blessed so we can bless other people and ultimately serve the kingdom. We get hurt, go through trials and face heartaches for the same reason. Keep your eyes on Jesus; hold fast the profession of your faith without wavering because He Who promised is faithful and able. Cultivate a continuous habit of believing and soon enough all your doubts will be dispelled in the glory of the absolute faithfulness of God.

Interestingly, the Songs of Solomon conveys a passionate story of love. The couple’s intense love for each other is neither unrequited nor frustrated, yet there are twists and turns to be met. They suffer trials and sorrows as well as great joy and fulfillment on a journey that’s not straightforward. What demonstration or better put, example of relentless pursuit, I dare say.

It is said that pursuit is the proof of desire. How true! Pause for a moment now. What do you desire?

This year, I beseech you to forget the things that are behind – all your past hurts, disappointments, disagreements and betrayals. Rather, press on towards the mark for the high call in Christ Jesus.

Make up your mind and let your eye be single. Be diligent and focused on what you desire from God this year.

God is really up to something. Won’t you rather stick withHim? I sure will. Bear in mind that He’s the rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. He’ll make all grace abound to you. He’ll make all things ultimately work together for your good and His glory and thus make your joy full. Ok? God bless.
