Desire and Distraction

A happy new year to you.
2018 was a good year and I trust that 2019 would be a lot better.
I know that it has been a while but right now, we are back and better.
How is your 2019 coming? what is your focus and how are you planning the year to make sure your 2019 is not a year of wasted time, efforts and investment to heaven and your person? What challenges did you face in 2018? Have you taken out time to find out what this year is about for you?
Really,  what is your desire?
Desire has been defined as wanting something or wishing for something to happen. Desire is a strong will. Distraction however, is anything that prevents someone from concentrating on something else.
My biggest shortcomings in 2018 was a result of unconscious negligence. I literally became nonchalant about most of the things I do and it resulted in huge fragments for me. I might as well say that in 2018, I had little or nothing I could anchor on. I only realized my distractions at the tail end of the year but I have decided on walking through my desire for 2019.
How about you? You should know that distractions are natural but focus is intentional. It is super easy for one to get distracted and there are a million and one attractions out there which might just slowly creep in and become your heartfelt desire.
As 2019 unfolds, one major thing you must do is to focus on your focus, you cannot afford to go through this year without a desire. Mind you, a desire is not a new year resolution: it is just something to pull you through.
Will distractions come along the line? Oh yes! But how strong would your desire be? Would it be just strong enough to overcome?
Distractions come in various forms.
• Side attractions: These come in unexpected forms like domestic activities, work environment, family pressure and even parental duties. Does this mean you should dissociate from all of these? No! simply know your distractions and tackle them evenly.
• Laziness and procrastination: This is even worse because with new levels comes new devils. When you procrastinate, new challenges pop up and eventually, you don’t get anything done.
• Contemplation also kills desires. Not knowing whether or not to do a particular thing at a particular time leads eventually to forgetfulness.
Desires are not exactly ice cream toppings; they come with a price tag. Would you be willing to count the cost for your desire? How do you even know what your desire is? Or how do you determine what your desire is? You need to sit with God, and let Him say to you what His desire for you is.
For me, mine is to consolidate all my fragments and bring them to a whole in 2019.
My dear brothers and sistas, it is my earnest desire that you have a strong desire to run 2019, to finish well and to finish strong.
See you on the side of success.
