I Am Not Adventurous

“Hezekiah put his whole trust in the God of Israel…He held fast to God—never loosened his grip—and obeyed to the letter everything God had commanded Moses. And God, for his part, held fast to him through all his adventures.” (2 Kings 14: 5-6, The Message)

That is just the simple truth. There is not one adventurous bone in my body. My idea of a perfect ‘adventure’ holiday is staying in a lovely beach resort hotel doing nothing more than sitting by the beach taking in the beautiful sights and sounds of the sea; throw in eating and a little shopping and I’m good. I hail the Safari lovers and the sky-divers but that’s just not my cup of tea. I am a serious Foodie and I love to go out to eat but if you asked me to share a list of restaurants I’ve been to in the last year, you might be disappointed. I’m a creature of habit. The list would therefore be very short. Once again, I doff my hat to the Indian and Japanese foodies but you won’t catch Salt there. I’m just not adventurous enough for all that. Am I boring then? You could say so and I can live with that.

But guess what? As much as I dislike adventure, as much as you have to ‘drug’ me to get me to go mountain-trekking or get me to try Shark Fin soup over my trusted Chicken and Sweet Corn soup; and as boring (and lily-livered) as I might be, MY LIFE has been one great roller coaster of an adventure. Yes it has! And I have to tell you that I have my seat belt all buckled up to go on this new 2015 episode of ‘The incredible Salt Adventure’ because I believe it is going to be a seat grabbing blockbuster!!!

Am I scared? No! I’m actually very excited! How come? Because my PapaGod is the Director and when it comes to God Adventures, I’m ready to rumble!

I may not trust the Himalayan Mountain Trek Guide or the exotic unpronounceable dishes offered in a Thai restaurant, but I know I can trust my PapaGod with any adventure 2015 wants to bring my way. He is my very own Indiana Jones and my personal James Bond. In the end, with Him on my side, I will always get the treasure or destroy the bomb just in the nick of time.

Yes, no matter how treacherous the journey or how many traitors rear their ugly heads, I, Salt, will always win. And unlike in the movie adventures, my 2015 adventure will need no film tricks. I already signed up the Best of the Best.

Yes, Jesus Christ is on my side and He is an Award Winning Adventure Guide. As long as I stay connected to Him, He will see me through all that 2015 brings my way.

From the bottom of my heart, I pray He is your Guide too.

Happy New Year!
